BACKGROUND
Students,
interns, and residents who go to the US for training programs of various kinds
face many difficulties before departure and when they arrive. The problems
arise mainly from not knowing American culture and American medical education /
training systems. It is therefore important that before people go to the US
they get an opportunity to be exposed to American systems. This workshop aims
closing this knowledge and skill gap.
OBJECTIVES
By
the end of the workshop, participants will have learned the following:

2. Adjusting
to the US hospital system and culture

WORKSHOP
PARTICIPANTS
1.
The workshop will be open to the
following categories of people in the Riyadh Region interested in going to the
US for summer electives, short term training programs, residency and fellowship
training: (a) Medical students in the 5th and 6th year
(b) Interns (c) Residents (d) Other types of physicians and allied health
workers
2. Invitations
will be sent to following universities: King Saud University, Imam Muhammad
University, King Saud Ibn Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, Salman
University, Majmah University, Sulaiman Alrajhi Medical Colleges, and other
private medical colleges.
3. Invitations
will also be sent to officials involved in sending students overseas: Ministry
of Higher Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of the
Interior, and Ministry of the National Guard.
WORKSHOP
VENUE AND DATES
1.
The workshop will be held at the Faculty
of Medicine on 2 occasions to cover the large number of expected participants:
January 4, 2014 and January 11, 2014
2.
The workshop will start at 9.00 am and
end at 3.00pm (lunch will be available)

WORKSHOP REGISTRATION

Registration will be by email to
okasule@kfmc.med.sa stating name, qualifications, and current position.
Confirmation will be by email within 5 working days.

The registration fee will be SAR100
payable in cash on the day of the seminar. This fee will cover the costs of
tea/coffee, lunch, and other administrative charges.
